Here's an old Almanac that seems appropriate for today. I don't hate football much except maybe in its more organized form and I don't watch TV chinwag-type shows, so I don't know who this guy on the sofa is. For "Orrin Hatch" please feel free to substitute any politician of your choice.

You know, I'd like to hear some educated people talk about the line between great nuts-and-bolts cartooning and great writing. It seems like in the best strips, the two ride (nearly) side-by-side in the cart. Especially in the post-war and modern strips, where there isn't an adventure narrative to string things together and make it compelling.
Now, where can I find some educated people?
Uh-oh, I'd hoped to get by on dredging up old cartoons and elephant drawings and posting 'em...
I'll come up with something more nuts & boltsy. The sad truth is that I don't usually know what makes a cartoon succeed, but I do know what makes it fail and all the work is in avoiding that.
Meanwhile, all you educated people, please, talk amongst yourselves. And Dustin, I enjoyed that Dollar Bin interview you did. It was a bargain at the price. It's here, I hope-

Just checking: I meant all that about writing as a compliment. I was maybe unclear (poor writing), although partly because I was trying to avoid comparing you yet again to that other great artist/writer combo, Bill Watterson. Oops! Now it's out of the bag.
Man, you ARE connected! How flattering to be noticed by so few, but so great, people!
"aspidastras". I like that word.
Hey Dustin! No problem! Recently I've been slapping up a lot of older stuff just to keep the blog alive; I oughta do something more substantial. We'll see.... Meanwhile, I enjoyed your blog and especially all the drawings, especially their variety.
Yeah, Heretoday, me too. All I know is, it's a houseplant that's popular in England, and a nice word.
