The Mighty Sergio

One of my childhood (and adulthood) idols, the legendary Sergio Aragones. draws Alice. And Groo, Rufferto, and his usual cast of thousands. See also here and here. I'm speechless with delight.

Oh, wow, yeah. Sergio Aragones. He was a hero of mine, too, when I was a young kid first making up his mind to be a cartoonist. I read Mad Magazine religiously back then, and learned a lot of what I know about gag writing, narrative, and drawing technique from it.

Hell, as far as that goes, pretty much every artist at Mad was a boyhood hero of mine... though I was more of a Don Martin fan than anything, myself. Best onomotopoeia writer ever. POIT! FITZIT! FAGROON! Don Martin ruled, man.
