CSOTD
I'm always glad when Cul de Sac makes Mike Peterson's Comic Strip of the Day. Mike is not only a newspaper man and comics lover of many years, he's also a former member of an Irish band. And he's a wise man (I don't think anyone else has name-checked Alice Roosevelt in reference to Alice Otterloop: Alice R gave me one more reason to choose the name for the O version- she was from DC and she was a hellion. Though you wouldn't know it from the above photo.)

"If you haven't got anything nice to say about anybody, come sit next to me."
That came later. Not in your photograph. One sad fact of her life. She was two days old when her mother died of Bright's Disease.
She had a sharp tongue. She said Calvin Coolidge looked like he had been weaned on a pickle, and she told LBJ that she wore large, big-brimmed hats to prevent him from trying to get near and kiss her.
My great-grandfather was a Teddy Roosevelt man. He named his youngest son Ted after him. And when my grandmother was born in 1907, she was named Alice after Alice Roosevelt. Grandma was spunky, too.
