I'd like to note that I was here. On your blog. Commenting. Just spent 20 minutes laughing; forcing my eldest daughter to come look as I stopped the movie and we looked at panel after panel. SweatshopSanta. Beethoven. Alice. God, what quality, heart and ability. Effortlessly my Aunt Fanny. Some genius once told me: " the secret of art is knowing when to stop." Richard shows us, through his work, the second secret is to know when to Go On. Just note Richard we don't always look at the blog posts or the pages; but we are moved. Always moved. Thank you.
Richard, can you put a way to subscribe to receive your blog posts by email? Then I wouldn't have to go to FB to find them! (I use Feedburner to offer email subscriptions)
Our little family here in Idaho is sure glad you introduced us to the Otterloops. Our son with Aspergers really found a way to connect with the world through Petey's eyes.
I was there at the Billy Ireland wandering through your exhibit on the day Andy Hemmendinger was filming, and was happy to meet him. It was wonderful to see all of your originals, as I've long loved your artwork from the Washington Post. Childhood is wonderful, isn't it? I look forward to the book!
At the end of every day I drive through the town of Kansas City and I cross the bridge that will take me home. I feel the words building inside me, I can't stop them, or tell you why I say them, but as I reach the top of the bridge these words come to me in a whisper. I say these words as a prayer, as thank you, and as praise, I say: Richard Church Thompson! Richard Church Thompson! Then I chug the last of my 2-liter Mountain Dew in an Irish salute!
Just placed my order for the signed Art of Richard Thompson! Unfortunately, can't justify ordering a second Complete Cul de Sac for another signature, but I am also grabbing the Richard's Poor Almanac with my order! But damn, I wish it was another 50 years before you could issue a "complete" anything.
