Today's Cul de Sac, November 7 2010

I've wanted to do a strip with a cartoon by Petey for a while, though I had no idea he'd be inspired by Waiting for Godot. And I wish he wouldn't draw so much like me.

When I steal from Samuel Beckett, this is what happens-

  1. His art does look a lot like yours, but I am sure over time he will move into his own style. Your art is probably what they used a reference at Cartoon Camp, along with Jack Kirby and Katsuhiro Otomo.

  3. Did anyone else notice that Petey's cartoon had seven panels, but in Richard's final panel, it has eight? Where's the missing panel?!? Enquiring minds want to know!

  4. I noticed it when I drew it but hoped that nobody else would. The first panel on Petey's drawing is of course the title panel, which I didn't draw. I just now figured that out.

  5. Fair enough! I think I can accept that. While the explanation is a bit suspicious, the suspense of not knowing what the title panel looks like actually improves the strip. Thanks, Richard.
