Goodbye, Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon, the great kid's magazine put out to promote the network that also became a welcoming haven for cartoonists, is shutting down. I hope all the staff find good positions elsewhere quickly, especially Chris Duffy and Dave Roman, who art directed the comic section of Nick into such a treat for the eyeballs. Dang it all.

  1. This is really sad! Nickelodeon commissioned illustrations that would actually make kids laugh. Not to mention, they used a ton of great alternative cartoonists. Newspapers and magazines are having a brutal year.I'm glad you got to do a cover Richard. It was a sweet piece of art!

  3. This is depressing. I saw Chris Duffy at a comics editors' panel not a month ago and had no idea.

  4. This is awful! Yet another great outlet for comics is gone.

  5. Crap!

I sold a few cartoons to the magazine. It was a great market for cartoonists.

Closing down with 1 million subscibers?

What does this say about the current market?

    p.s. Great cover, Richard!

Thanks for the nice post. I'm awfully sad, but your post helps. I love Cul De Sac (and your cover).
