I'm pleased and proud that today's Cul de Sac is in pop pop lawnmower synchronicity with today's
The Doozies, which is drawn by the redoubtable
Tom Gammill. Such cosmic coincidences just confirm my faith in the million monkey approach to writing Shakespeare.
I don't think I had a pop pop lawnmower when I was a kid, but my brother did. Sensibly enough, he called it a bop bop wubong.
You could even join them together and make a Sunday strip out of it! Yours would be the first three panels, then Mr. Gammill's would be the last three.
ReplyDeleteWubong!
As a constant and very long time reader of the comic pages, I have often been amazed at such synchronicity. Conspiracy theories, anyone?
ReplyDeleteYours is a great deal funner =P
ReplyDeleteWeird yes, but at the same time maybe not so much - cartoonists creating 365 strips a year about small children are probably fairly likely to come up with the same subject matter occasionally.
But hah, I can sure remember getting out the scissors when I was that age to trim the grass. Got bored pretty quickly if I remember... was this incident inspired by your own children?
"pop pop wubong" sounds like something a jazz singer might say...
ReplyDeleteEven odder, the strip I wrote last night and will draw today also concerns lawnmowers...but the real kind, not the pop-pop kind.
ReplyDeleteI still would like one of those...
ReplyDeleteThey make such a satisfying sound.
I declare May 13 PoP PoP Mower Day.
