(Seriously, I think delivery is delayed because the warehouse working are ripping open the boxes and admiring the artistry of the cartoons. "Ohhh! Ahhh!")
Amazon kept insisting all day yesterday that they were going to ship it (I ordered it back in July). Then, about 3:25 am, after a night of heavy drinking and weeping, they sent me an e-mail:
"We're still trying to obtain the following item..."
"...we'll cancel your order on October 06 2008, if we haven't located it by then."
So I think Jennifer Hart is right--they have them, they just can't locate them.
In any event, screw Amazon. They lied to me. I'll drop by the local bookstore and ask them to order it for me. Then at least I'll know whose grubby fingerprints are on it.
That mental image of the Amazon people dispatching a message of apology after a night spent in heavy drinking & weeping is almost as good as another cartoon from Mr. Thompson.
I know one thing for sure. Your book's delay isn't the result of a one-time syndicated cartoonist sabotaging the warehouse in hopes that an anxious and confused public will buy copies of a certain other book while they wait. No siree. It's sure not that.
That is a brilliant cartoon. Wonderful.

I ordered one. Amazon told me October 8th. A month is as long as I'll wait for a book where the phrase "and I saw Bozo slap Mickey Mouse" is included.
