Seafood 'n' Pancakes

Oh boy, more beach stuff! When we go to the beach we eat a lot of seafood, unsurprisingly, but somehow we usually end up at a pancake restaurant too. So I combined them in this strip from about four years ago. I just drew some more beach trip daily strips that cannabalized some of these older ones and pretty shamelessly too.

  2. I always hated that rind on bologna. Or baloney. Either one, it was nasty.

  4. Oh, Alice glued to the booster seat is one of my very favorite CdS last panels. Pretty sure I clipped this one and stuck it in one of my too funny to part with files.

  5. I have a question for the Cartoonist Guru:
When you compose your Sunday strips, do you intentionally make the final panel in each row a punchline? For this one, although it flows nicely the whole way through, there definitely seems to be a beat on the 4th and the 8th panel. I happen to like it, so I'm just curious. Or am I just looking for something that isn't there?

  8. Youall have fun, Mrs. W. I'm pretty sure there's a Cap'n Flapjack's next to Awful Arthur's.

    Mike, me too.

Patty, I'm going to use that someday, when you're not paying attention.

Paul, thanks! You need to do a sketchblog.

Htgt, thanks! I make that face sometimes, though not as pricelessly.

Kid, snappy avatar! I didn't plan it that way (4-8, 3-6, whichever one), but the more punchlines the better as long as it all makes sense and doesn't seem like it's straining for laffs. And it's got that organic flow so they're not just telling jokes, y'know?
