The Float

Here, courtesy of Bruce Guthrie and his Unstoppable Camera, are some photos of the Clarendon Mardi Gras float brought to life by the Unstoppable Genius of Rob Lindsay, Vic Ferrante, Jared Davis, Bono Mitchell and diverse hands. Note that the eyes light up and the heads bobble. The jeep with the Godzilla in it was towing the float, inside Godzilla is Rob's sister, who also made the costume.

  1. Your life will now be divided up into the pre-float days of wonder and the post-float doldrums. The float looked great! Please tell us there will be plush animals to buy as well! Or bobble heads!

Congrats, Richard! This is the most fun post of the week!

  2. Wowsa! That's so friggin' cool!

Other than the stick going up Godzilla's butt, they look like they could smash through the buildings, jump off the float and run into the crowd!

They are very close to your drawing! I love it!

  3. I only got to see it going around a corner; I'm so relieved you posted these! What will happen to them? They are fantastic.

And that parade was a whole lot of fun (except for the little girl standing next to me who kept trying to bum my beads off of me...)

  4. Yeah, it's dang cool. Right now it's parked in an empty body shop; after that, who knows? I'm pushing to have the whole thing bronzed and placed in a park (this might be Mike R's idea). Meanwhile there's another local parade that's interested in it, so maybe it'll slowly travel across the country, confusing parade viewers from coast to coast.

Post-float doldrums is a whole lot of fun to say.

  5. I think it should go into the Central Library.

  6. The librarians would just love it, don't you think?
